The Lyon Zone (including REDWOOD DR, WEST PARK AVE, BIG BASIN WAY, ST FRANCIS DR, BOULDER BROOK DR, MADRONE AVE, BROOK LANE, RIDGE DR, PAONE DR, VIRGINIA AVE, DAVIDSON WAY, GARDEN LANE, LOMA LINDA AVE, CHIPMUNK HOLLOW) repairs were completed on Saturday, 9/12/2020 and water is in the process of starting to re-enter that zone. This process may take up to 48 hrs. to have the full service area back in water (by 9/14). Which means we hope to have this zone back in full service by 9/14, at this time we do not know which homes have resumed regular full service, but you should be able to tell by running an outside hose bib to see water availability, which will also help clear any air or cloudy water in the lines. As a way to conserve, you could use this water to help water an outside plant.
Additionally, there is a current DO NOT DRINK-DO NOT BOIL YOUR WATER notice for the Lyon Zone area.
Currently, the drinking water contamination is unknown and the State Water Resources Control Board, Santa Cruz County Health Department, and the San Lorenzo Valley Water District Water System are advising residents of the affected area to NOT USE THE TAP WATER FOR DRINKING AND COOKING UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. DO NOT DRINK-DO NOT BOIL YOUR WATER Failure to follow this advisory could result in illness.
The State will require testing of this water before the DND/DNB can be lifted. Once water is restored we have to wait 72 hours before some sampling begins, so the sampling results will be received about one week after you are back in water and we will be taking multiple samples. This process could take several weeks. We hope this message helps you plan for your return.
We have created a page with the pertinent links to the notice, lab results and FAQ’s. The District is posting the test results as they come back and are reviewed with the State. Please visit the page for CZU Fire Water Quality. Be sure to follow any notices, some results may come back for your area, but it requires multiple tests before some notices can be lifted: https://bit.ly/3ip3Csz
The District does have bottle water and a filling station at the Operations Facility, 13057 Highway 9, Boulder Creek
